FAQs

How much does the registration of a trademark in the European Union cost?

The cost depends on the number of classes in which the mark is to be protected. Each application is subject to a government fee of 850 EUR for the first class, 50 EUR for the second class, and 150 EUR for each additional class. In addition to the official fees, our service fees also apply. They are also calculated based on the number of classes. If you are interested in obtaining a detailed quote, please contact us by phone or email.

What are the advantages of Trademarkia over other entities providing similar services?

Trademarkia enables the protection of your intellectual property anywhere in the world. This translates into significant time and cost savings, as you do not have to contact multiple agents scattered around the world, and the cost structure and available protection options are known to you immediately. Whether you decide to register your mark in one country or in 50, your workload remains at a similar level, as we handle the coordination of the entire protection process.

Are government fees for trademark applications refundable in case of refusal of registration?

Unfortunately, no. That is why it is so important to ensure that the proposed mark meets all the requirements specified by the law of the relevant country. All potential issues are always brought to the attention of our clients, which helps to minimize the risk of failure. In relatively rare cases where formal issues arise after filing the mark, we also assist in appeal procedures before the authorities.

What is the process of obtaining trademark registration in the European Union?

The process of obtaining trademark protection in the European Union is one of the fastest in the world. After filing an application with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), a formalities examination takes place, which usually lasts no longer than 2 weeks. Then the application is published. During the 3-month opposition period, anyone can file an opposition against our mark. If no opposition is filed, the mark will be formally registered within a few days after the end of the opposition period. Trademark registration in the European Union usually takes no longer than 5 months.

Is a trademark registered in the European Union protected in the United Kingdom?

Unfortunately, no. The United Kingdom is no longer a member of the European Union, and as a result, trademarks registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office are not protected in the territory of the United Kingdom. To obtain protection in the United Kingdom, a separate application must be filed. Attorney Katarzyna Binder-Sony has all the necessary qualifications to represent you in the United Kingdom.

Does Trademarkia provide services related to obtaining a patent?

Yes, we also assist our clients in this area. We offer a wide range of services, from consultations to patent searches and filing of patent applications. Our services are particularly attractive to IT and new technology companies interested in obtaining formal protection for their innovative solutions in the United States.
